Exciting News - a new addition to the Milligan Family

Today we picked up our new bundle of gorgeous fun - an 8 week old black labrador puppy called Poppy.
We went yesterday to visit mummy Inca, daddy Bruce and the puppies. They were all so gorgeous and adorable but we finally settled on Poppy as she was just lovely and all she wanted to do is get cuddles and kisses.
Now the fun begins of toilet training - first visit was to Pet at Homes for puppy pads, antibacterial wipes and dettol spray. She got a new cosey sheepskin bed, dishes, and puppy toys along with her special dry puppy food.
My two children absolutely adore her already and I am looking forward to those cold winter days being kept company by my new little companion in my studio.
Here too many, many long walks and millions of kisses and cuddles......

Themes, themes and more themes......

I simply love when a client comes along and says those words - we have a theme, idea etc, its like a lightbulb appears magically above my head and I get ever so excited and inspired.
So whither it is a Vegas theme, Vintage tea party, Alice in Wonderland, 50's glamour - you name it if you have an idea - let me bring it to life!

Looking to 2011.....as a 'Fabulous' wedding supplier

I am so looking forward to being a Fabulous Wedding Supplier at The Fabulous Wedding Events scheduled for the early months of 2011.
Laura the owner of LFT Events who organises the Fabulous Wedding Shows has found three 'fabulous' venues to host wedding shows - The Thistle Hotel Glasgow, The Hilton Grosvenor, Glasgow and Dunblane Hydro.
As a new exciting company in the wedding fayre market its so good to be involved with a fun, modern company who puts together some of the most 'FABULOUS' vendors west central Scotland has to offer.

All I can say is that if I was getting married now ( I am an old married lady of 11 years) I would book Design Studio Scotland in a blink of an eye as their modern style is just so now and is just so natural in fact, when you view a wedding you feel as if you are a fly on the wall. Meet the Bride Evening at Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow on 31st October 2010

I am so excited to be one of a handful of wedding specialists who have been chosen to be a vendor at a new concept in wedding marketing at the new gorgeous Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow which opens on the 17th September.

SF Designs on the Move......

Tommorrow is a landmark day for my little business as I pick up the keys for my new studio.
It will take me a few weeks to clean, do a little refurbishment and get it looking all nice for me to work and be inspired.
I will be updating my marketing literature over the coming weeks aswell as the website but in the meantime I will use my blog to update about the studio and to provide information.

A Great Day at Shawlands Park Hotel

Well, what a lovely sunny September day ideal for a wedding fayre.
Thank you to the many brides, mums, friends and grooms who I met today and the wonderful feedback that I recevived about my designs.
The new Envelopment patterns and colours have gone 'down a storm' and it looks like peacock blue is a big trend for 2011.
The canapes were wonderful as usual especially the chocolate dipped strawberries which were very yummy and it was great meeting some old faces and also some new vendors aswell.
I look forward to working with the clients who I met with today designing for their Special Day.

Candy Buffets / Sweet Shops are just so now!

Lots of my clients in 2009 and 2010 have been incorporating candy buffets / sweet shops into their receptions and it is such a fun and modern idea.
A candy buffet can be as simple as a few favourite candy's maybe from the couples childhood or an elaborate table display colour co-ordinated with little bags and boxes for your guests to take away and enjoy.
It would also make a fantastic 'entertainment' for any children attending your special day as I am sure it would keep them occupied through those long speeches.....
Here are a few ideas that I found to inspire -
I am hoping to offer a bespoke candy/sweet buffet as a service to my clients who are looking for event styling/on the day organisation and I have lots of quirky and unique ideas just waiting to be unleashed.

Shawlands Park Hotel Wedding Fayre - Sunday 12th September'10

Another Sunday, but not just another Wedding Fayre....
I love visiting Shawlands Park Hotel, Larkhall and exhibiting at their wonderful wedding fayres. Susan the wedding co-ordinator is one of the most organised and professional organisers I have ever met and I look forward to seeing her and her staff again tommorrow along with the other regular vendors.
I always love being inspired by Jenny's Cakes and to see what new designs she has come up with and I have got to mention her sponge cakes are absolutely scrumptious especially her lemonn drizzle.
It will also be great to catch up with one of my favourite wedding photographers Paula Veverka who will also be exhibiting - if you are looking for a professional who understands her couples and supplies photographs that encapsulate the air of romance and love in a stylish and modern way.
The fashion show is always a highlight with an array of gorgeous dresses and outfits for the bride, bridesmaid, mother of the bride and groom too!
So if you are looking for a fayre set in stylish and chic surroundings visit Shawlands Park......

I am so in love with peonies.....

I love, love, love flowers but I adore peonies!
I think its their delicate, blousy styling and the beautiful sorbet colours that they come in...... and the fact that they suit so many wedding style: summer garden, vintage, classical and stylish and many more.
What a find of gorgeous peonies from the American blog Style Me Pretty, time to be inspired!

I love Etsy for all things hand made, vintage and just that little bit different....
I noticed these stylish signs which could be used in various ways and quirky enough to get your guests talking.

New Pricing

Due to VAT increasing on the 1st January 2011, I am currently reviewing my pricing structure to take this into account. Of course, I will try to keep my pricing as competitive as possible in view of the current economic climate.
I will also be introducing a booking deposit of £50 which secures your date and order in my diary and also covers the full design process of all of your samples.

We may be heading towards those cold, winter months but I came across this on one of my favourite USA wedding blogs Style Me Pretty. It is so summery and dreamy - what a gorgeous couple set with beautiful sunshine. I hope it might inspire couple who are getting married next spring/summer.

Exciting News....Today, Tommorrow, Next Year.....

At last Sticky Fingers Designs has found an ideal little unit to run my business from - Flowerhill Business Centre, Flowerhill Street, Airdrie. I move in officially on the 1st of October but I will be working hard over the next few weeks with a little help from my hubby and friends working on renovations and cleaning of the unit ready for my bits and pieces.
I have lots of ideas on how I want it to look and I am really excited about some of my ideas, I think it will look lovely and it will be my little design and creativity hub.
Pictures of now and later to come once I get my keys!

Exciting News....

Hopefully as of tommorrow Sticky Fingers Designs will have a new home, I have located a small unit close to my home and although it needs a little work ( well quite a lot really being honest ) its ideal and a step in the right direction for my business.
I will update the blog as soon as everything is confirmed and hopefully I will be operating from it by the 1st of November. Having the next 3 months off means it will be ideal for me to get it looking gorgeous, and the ideal space for design inspiration for me relaunching in 2011.
Now I am looking for some interior design inspiration so roll on the ideas......
